Traditional stone built cottage on the same site as a select development of 20 new apartments a stone's throw away from Yalikavak Marina. Affectionately nicknamed the 'cowshed' by the owners, as it was thought its previous use (before total refurbishment) was just that!
Unique as you have the best of both worlds - old charm and new conveniences. Once through the entrance door into the open plan kitchen/lounge, a traditional reeded ceiling, stone walls and the scent of natural wood greets you. Your first sight is the fitted kitchen complete with microwave, gas hob and all the equipment you require for a self-catering holiday home. To the right is the stylishly furnished lounge area, with comfy cane chairs and sofa, coffee table,CD player, fireplace and windows to both front and rear. Walk back from the kitchen, through the low doorway into the huge bedroom, with en-suite shower room. This room has handcrafted wardrobes, drawers and bedside cabinets. It also has two additional beds stored away, to accommodate extra guests - there is ample sleeping space for a family of 3 or 4. The fridge/freezer is stored here as it is too large for the kitchen! In typical Turkish style, the bathroom houses the washing machine! The cottage has air-conditioning fitted, so together with this and the thick stone walls keeping the cottage cool in the summer, guest comfort during the hot summer months is assured. Outside, there is a private covered sun terrace, with table and chairs, sun loungers and stand alone BBQ. In front of the terrace are the large communal lawns. The cottage is to the side of the apartment development and benefits from the use of all the on-site amenities, such as large shared pool, gardens and purpose built BBQ area. YALIKAVAK Yalıkavak has grown in size over recent years and is very much a place where the locals welcome foreigners with open arms. Every Thursday there is a weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices. Walking from the market side to the beach and harbour is an old style pedestrianised bazaar for shopping, with a few boutiques, restaurants and cafes dotted around. The beach in Yalıkavak is long and narrow lined with a few restaurants it is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yalıkavak is always said to be a little nicer in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. During the winter months the village retains its sleepy feeling where the residents spend many an hour playing backgammon or chess in the local ‘Kahve’ cafe’s. *All prices include KDV/VAT unless otherwise stated. |
