As well as becoming a favourite with Europeans Gundoghan is very popular with wealthy Turks from Istanbul and Ankara who have summer homes in the village. The beach is clean, the water crystal clear and is surrounded by some lovely restaurants and cafes offering good quality local and international food!

{mosimage} Gumusluk (meaning "silver"), 23 km from Bodrum is a peaceful village and one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula. Most of the village is designated an official archaeological site and thanks to its strict building regulations has kept its original appearance and photogenic charm. It remains small and sleepy with a few craft shops, cafes and mini markets for all of your essential items. Gumsuluk is the ideal spot for peace and relaxation and the fish restauarnats are highly regarded by tourists and locals alike!

{mosimage} Yalikavak, 18 km away from Bodrum centre on the north western tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed, yet further along the shoreline is a new sophisticated Marina.

'We just returned from a fabulous holiday in 'elegant villa' ,which had awesome views .....and enjoys a panoramic almost 360 degree view from the roof top. Most of the rooms have a view including the ensuite master bathroom!

We were also very touched by the gesture of the owners, who had left everything from, little sachets of coffee powder to washing powder to see us through our initial days. We also had ample supply of towels and hot water and truly it was a 'home from home'.

We also had to add ,that the most reassuring part of having this villa was the service offered by Annie and Ian ,unlike most agencies which lacked the personal touch, they were there from the beginning to the end - ,so much so .they were there at 7.30 am in the morning directing us to the villa, and throughout our stay, to deal with any problems we had -a service second to none, We were thoroughly impressed!

We have already recommended this villa and Peninsula villa care ,- to several of our friends and I'm returning next year with a group of girl friends.!

Gumusluk (meaning "silver"), 23 kilomters from Bodrum is a peaceful village and one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula. It has several restaurants (naturally specialising in fish), pensions and motels, but it retains a small-scale atmosphere for the simple reason that most of the village is designated an official archaeological site so with strict building prohibitions with no landscaping alterations or new groundbreakings permitted in the old village.

18 km from Bodrum and a few minutes drive east of Yalikavak, past magnificent roadside rock formations and towering mountain peaks covered in pine forests, brings you to the secluded village of Gundogan (pronounced “Gundowan”). The old Greek name 'Farilya' means 'Sunrise' and is still visible on some signposts.

Historically Gundogan has always been important for fishing, sponge diving, olive and tangerine growing. At one time most of the inhabitants lived by the seashore supporting the main local industries of fishing and sponge diving, but fear of British gun boats during the First World War caused the villagers to move inland, leaving the waterfront spacious and uncrowded. Once an important fishing centre, Gundogan's major economies are now agriculture (primarily citrus fruit) and tourism.

In recent years, holiday developments have popped up over the surrounding hills and it is now home to visitors from various European countries as well as its Turkish residents. Gundogan is developing fast and is very popular with wealthy Turks from Istanbul and Ankara who have summer homes in the village. The beach is clean, the water crystal clear and is surrounded by some lovely restaurants and cafes offering good quality local and international food

Four years ago a five star hotel was opened on the bay and Gundogan’s further developments mean that Gundogan now boasts some of the best boutique hotels on the Bodrum Peninsula. These include Mandal Hotel which is owned by Mustafa Sandal (who is Turkey’s George Michael)!

Daily boats/gulets for hire are available from the small harbour.

Restaurants
Gundogan’s hotels and restaurants are dotted along the horse shoe shaped beach and offer a variety of cuisine. In the summer months, when these restaurants can often be full, chairs and tables spill out from the pedestrian walkway onto the beach. You actually dine just a few feet from the water. It is common to see families and couples strolling along the beach path deciding which restaurant to chose. A certainty is the warm welcome you will be given by the restaurant staff as they proudly offer and serve the fresh catches of Gundogan's remaining fishermen.

Our absolute favourite restaurant is Terzi Mustafa. Terzi means “Tailor” in Turkish and during the summer this restaurant is crowded with locals, Turkish visitors and foreign holidaymakers. It is located right on the beach close to the Istanbul Palace Hotel. There is no menu but everyone is so friendly and welcoming. In our opinion it serves the best “Meze” (Turkish starters) at amazing good value prices. All the meze are made at home by the family and they taste superb. For the main course, you can choose from fish, meatballs or chicken all cooked in local style and as we say, great value for money. One not to miss.

Beaches
A seaside pedestrian road and path runs pretty much from one side of the bay to the other. On one side there is the beach which is mostly sand and various jetties. On the other side are a huge selection of restaurants, hotels, bed and breakfast and small shops. The beach in Gundogan is gently sloping and ideal for children. There are also some excellent coves and areas of the bay which are great for snorkelling.

For the adventurous there is a water sports company on the bay where you can hire equipment to jet-ski, water-ski, wind-sail and Hobie-cat sail at very reasonable prices.
Even in the height of summer the beaches remain busy but not overcrowded. You can choose your own secluded and private spot on the beach or one of the small coves or there are a number of private beaches. Private beaches or beach clubs we would recommend are:

Olira Boutique Hotel – a fantastic service and very well kept jetty and small beach attached to the hotel. The beach is safe for kids and families. A little pricey but if you want a touch of luxury at the beach well worth the day out. In August it is so popular that you may not get a space as all the loungers are reserved for the guests.

Mandal Boutique Hotel – a touch of luxury in one of the most exclusive boutique hotels on the Peninsula.
Alara Beach Club – has a good restaurant and beach jetty with sun loungers etc. During July and August their stage is home to bands playing live music or a salsa dancing show.

Getting around
The center of the town has it’s own bus station and Gundogan has connections to Yalikavak, Torba, Bodrum, Turgutries by mini bus “Dolmus”. There are also numerous taxi ranks.

Historical Sites
Gundogan also offers some interesting historical sites. Across the bay is Kucuk Tavsan (Little Rabbit) Island, where an old Greek Church is clearly visible atop the hill. A steep climb up the ridge just outside the upper village leads to a flight of 50 steps cut into the rock and the entrance to a small, but spectacularly sited monastery. In addition, on the far side of the main Yalikavak-Torba road, across from the upper village, an old Ottoman tower pokes its head from the lush pine forest.

Apart from the owner, Peninsula Villa Care are deemed to be the sole key holder for your property and as such in order to help ensure security regarding your keys we have produced guidelines on the delivery and handling of them.

Should you the owner, request that the keys are to be handed to a third party then please email us with your instructions, detailing the purpose, to whom and the duration.

Please ensure that (if applicable) you provide us with the security system details along with the contact details of the security company.

We will remind you of the above actions when you finalise your membership.

Frequently Asked Questions - under construction

Terms and Conditions

Peninsula Villa Care

Please read them carefully as they set out your respective rights and obligations.

Definitions for Booking Conditions: "You" and "your" means Party Leader and Party Members named on the Booking Form (including anyone who is added or substituted at a later date).
"We" and "us" "ourselves" means Owner name;?>.
"We/us both" means both "you" and "us"
"Keyholder" means our appointed property manager
"Service Charges" means telephone calls, water and electric
"Total Cost" means the accommodation Total Price on your Confirmed booking. It excludes the security deposit.
"Force Majeure" means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, actual or threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside our control.
"Fault" means failure by us to use reasonable skill and care in performing or providing the service in question.
"Peninsula" means Peninsula Villa Care.

All bookings are made subject to these Booking Conditions.

1.1. Making your BOOKING REQUEST " Reserving the Property

Bookings can be made by completing the booking forms on the Peninsula Villa Care web site and following the instructions or by contacting Peninsula by telephone, email or fax. Contact details are available on the Peninsula web site.

Once you have made your Booking Request, Peninsula will change the availability status of the PROPERTY to RESERVED. We both then have 72 hours to agree the payment mechanism, and confirm availability, and agree any changes to the contract. After this unless your Booking Request is confirmed Peninsula will change the status to AVAILABLE.

1.2. CONFIRMING your Booking

When we agree to accept your Booking Request Peninsula will issue you a payment request by email. This invoice will be sent to the party leader. Please check this invoice carefully as soon as you receive it. Contact Peninsula immediately if any information which appears on the confirmation or any other document appears to be incorrect or incomplete as it may not be possible to make changes later. We regret we cannot accept any liability if we are not notified of any inaccuracies in any document within 5 working days of our sending it out. Your booking is confirmed when Peninsula receives your deposit and the availability status will be changed to BOOKED, and you will be issued a confirmation invoice by email.

2. Payment

In order to confirm your Booking Request and Confirm your stay the following deposits are required once we accept your Booking Request. These are detailed in the Invoice which will be sent to you by Peninsula as outlined in 1b. The following payments are required:

2.1. Booking Deposit

If booking is made over 42 days before your requested dates - a DEPOSIT of 25% of the full payment must be paid.
If booking is made within 42 days of your requested dates " FULL PAYMENT must be paid.

This DEPOSIT is not refundable in the event of your cancellation or failure to pay on time as set out below.

The balance of the cost of your stay must be received by Peninsula not less than 42 days prior to departure (or at the time of booking if this date has passed). This date will be shown on the confirmation invoice. If you have not paid in full and on time we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you. In this case the cancellation charges set out in clause 7 below will be payable.

Payment can be made either by Paypal or direct to our UK bank account, details of which
will be on the invoice that we forward to you. Should you decide to use Paypal as your payment method then you will be charged a fee for this service of 2% of the booking fee.

2.2. Security Deposit

You must pay a Security Deposit as detailed in this contract. This will either be collected by Peninsula or our property manager. The cost of any damage to the property or to any items in and/or at the property caused or any service charges incurred by you or any member of your party will be deducted by us from the security deposit at the end of your stay. If no deductions are required your security deposit will be refunded in full to you not later than 14 days after your departure from the property. If the security deposit is not sufficient to cover any damage caused or service charges incurred by you, you will be responsible for paying us any additional monies required immediately on request from us.

In the event of cancellation by you if you have made payment of the security deposit, then this is fully refundable.

3. Your contract

A binding contract between us both comes into existence when the Deposit payment is paid {see clause 2}. If you cancel after paying the deposit our normal cancellation charges will apply {See clause 7}. This contract and all matters arising out of it are governed by the laws of Turkey and we both agree that any dispute arising out of or connected with your Booking will be dealt with by the Courts of Turkey.

4. The cost of your stay

We reserve the right to increase or decrease the prices of accommodation at any time. The price of your stay will be confirmed at the time of booking, subject to the correction of errors. Once the Booking is confirmed the price we have agreed will not be changed. We reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices. We will do so as soon as we become aware of the error.

Please note, changes and errors occasionally occur. You must check the price of your stay at the time of booking, and you must check your confirmation invoice.

5.1 Number of persons

Only those persons whose name appears on the Booking Form may use the property. The number of persons (adults and children) must not exceed the number of sleeping places indicated on the website. The substitution of persons during the rental period is forbidden unless previously agreed with us.

5.2 Arrivals

On arrival you must present your Booking Confirmation details as well as your passport or identity card to us or our keyholder.

5.3 Cleaning

The property will have been cleaned and beds made up before your arrival. Should you require extra cleaning or linen changes during your stay this must be pre arranged with us. The cost will be advised accordingly.

6. Changes by you

Should you wish to make any changes to your confirmed booking, you must notify us or Peninsula by email as soon as possible. Whilst we will endeavour to assist, we cannot guarantee we will be able to meet any such requests. Where we can, an amendment fee may be payable together with any costs incurred by ourselves.

7. Cancellation by you

Should you need to cancel your stay after the contract has begun (see clause 3 above), the party leader must immediately advise us or Peninsula either by email, fax or in writing. Your notice of cancellation will only be effective when we receive it in writing. As we incur costs from the time we confirm your booking and may be unable to re-sell your period of stay, the following cancellation charges will be payable. Where the cancellation charge is shown as a percentage, this is calculated on the basis of the total cost of the booking excluding amendment charges. Amendment charges are not refundable in the event of cancellation.

8. Insurance

It is strongly recommended that you take out adequate travel insurance. Please read your policy details carefully. It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance cover you purchase is adequate for your particular needs.

9. Changes and cancellation by us

Occasionally, we have to make changes to and correct errors on the website descriptions and other details both before and after bookings have been confirmed and cancel confirmed bookings. Whilst we always endeavour to avoid changes and cancellations, we must reserve the right to do so.

If we have to make a significant change to or cancel your booking, we will tell you as soon as possible. We will endeavour to offer you an alternative should a significant change or cancellation occur.

We regret we cannot pay any expenses, costs or losses incurred by you as a result of any change or cancellation.

10. Force Majeure

We regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss as a result of "force majeure.

11. Our Liability to you

11.1. We promise to provide your accommodation with reasonable skill and care. We do not accept responsibility if any death, personal injury, failure or deficiency of your accommodation arrangements is not caused by any fault of ours.

Please note it is your responsibility to show that reasonable skill and care has not been used if you wish to make a claim.

We will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss (for example loss of enjoyment), damage, expense, cost or other sum or claim of any description whatsoever which results from any of the following:
(a) the fault of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or
(b) the fault of a third party not connected with the provision of your accommodation by us which we could not have predicted or avoided or
(c) an event or circumstance which could not have predicted or avoided even after taking all reasonable care (see clause 10)

In addition, we will not be responsible where you do not enjoy your stay or suffer any problems because of a reason you did not tell us about when you booked your stay or where any problems you suffer did not result from any breach of our contract or other fault of ourselves or any losses, expenses, costs or other sum you have suffered relate to any business.

Please note; we cannot accept responsibility for any services that do not form part of our contract. This includes, for example, any additional services or facilities any other supplier agrees to provide for you.

11.2. The promises we make to you about the accommodation we have agreed to provide or arrange as part of our contract - and the laws and regulations of Turkey will be used as the basis for deciding whether the accommodation in question had been properly provided. If the particular accommodation which gave rise to the claim or complaint complied with Turkish laws and regulations at the time, the accommodation will be treated as having been properly provided.

11.3 We agree to advise you in writing our contact details and our keyholder after your booking has been confirmed.

12. Complaints and problems.

In the unlikely event that you have any reason to complain or experience any problems with your stay whilst away, you must immediately inform us or our keyholder. Any verbal notification must be put in writing and given to us or our keyholder as soon as possible. Until we know about a problem or complaint, we cannot begin to resolve it. Most problems can be dealt with quickly. For all complaints and claims which do not involve death, personal injury or illness, we regret we cannot accept liability if you fail to notify the complaint or claim entirely in accordance with this clause.

13. Behaviour.

You accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by you or any member of your party. Full payment for any such damage or loss must be paid direct to us at the time. If you fail to do so, you will be responsible for meeting any legal costs we incur in full in recovering full payment from you.

We expect all clients to have consideration for other people. If in our reasonable opinion or in the reasonable opinion of any other person in authority, you or any member of your party behaves in such a way as to cause or be likely to cause danger, upset or distress to any third party or damage to the property, or in any way damage the reputation and/or goodwill of the Owner we are entitled, without prior notice, to terminate the occupation of the person(s) concerned. In this situation, the person(s) concerned will be required to leave the accommodation. We will have no further responsibility toward such person(s). No refunds will be made and we will not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination.

14. Special requests and medical problems

If you have any special request, you must advise us at the time of booking and clearly note it in the Other Information section of the Booking Request Form. Although we will endeavour to meet any reasonable requests we regret we cannot guarantee any request will be met. Failure to meet any special request will not be a breach of contract on our part. We regret we cannot accept any conditional bookings, i.e. any booking which is specified to be conditional on the fulfilment of a particular request, unless we agree before Booking Confirmation. All such bookings will be treated as "standard" bookings subject to the above provisions on special requests.

If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability that may affect your stay, please tell us before you confirm your booking so that we can advise as to the suitability of the chosen arrangements. In any event, you must give us full details in writing at the time of booking. If we reasonably feel unable to properly accommodate the particular needs of the person concerned, we must reserve the right to decline their reservation or, if full details are not given at the time of booking, cancel when we become aware of these details.

15. Passports, visas and health requirements

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and your party members are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents (including Passports and Visas (where applicable) before departure. You must check passport and visa requirements for entry to Turkey with your Embassy.

16. Prices and Website Accuracy

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the website and prices at the time of requesting the booking, regrettably errors do occasionally occur. You must therefore ensure you check all details of your stay (including the price) before you Confirm Your Booking {See Clause 1.2}.

17. Responsibilities and the role of Peninsula

Peninsula acts as the booking agent and is not the principal of any rental contract between us both. We appoint Peninsula to visit, photograph and describe this property in good faith. The approval and accuracy of the description appearing on the website is the sole responsibility of us and we agree to review the published details and take steps to advise Peninsula of inaccuracies. Peninsula undertakes to make such changes as requested. Therefore, Peninsula declines all responsibility for any inaccuracy as it is beyond its control. Peninsula provides and is solely responsible for the publishing, and the web site software.

18. Complaints procedure

In the event of any problems you must contact us or our keyholder immediately, plus you undertake to do your best to resolve or minimise the problem in order to avoid any prejudices that could result. you must immediately get in touch with us or our keyholder by telephone on the day of your arrival, confirming your complaint in writing within 24 hours by fax or by e-mail. You are obliged to give us the time necessary to resolve the problem.

Should there be no written complaint supplied as above specified and you leave the accommodation prematurely and without an explicit authorisation by us, you forfeit your rights for a refund of the rental price, unless the terms of this contract have been breached. Complaints received at the end of the stay will not be taken into consideration and no refunds will be given.

Should a complaint be upheld and a refund forthcoming but the amount of refund cannot be agreed between the parties Peninsula will act as an independent arbitrator and decide on the amount of refund if any that is due.

Please note that the property is not an official tourist structure, such as a hotel, residences, etc. but a private dwelling. Therefore, there is no standard or categories that are internationally recognised, indeed it reflects the architecture and furnishings, the local traditions and the personal taste of the owner. We cannot however exclude the possibility that these differences can sometimes result in minor inconveniences - due to the special nature of its architecture and of traditions in the area - but which cannot be accepted as complaints.

Beaches
The main beach in Yalikavak is long and narrow and lined with a few restaurants. It is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Yalikavak's beach is never busy and you won't be sandwhiched in amongst sun loungers. Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yalıkavak is always said to be a little cooler in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. Whereas Bodrum is hot, in all respects, in summer.

Yalikavak is renownd for its superb sunsets and unspoilt shoreline. Its sparkling clean sea is one of the few remaining abodes of the endangered “Monachus Monachus” mediterranean seals and therefore a protected area. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.

History
Archaeological excavations have established that human habitation in the Yalikavak area began in around 2000BC, and there are ruins and artifacts from the Carian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geriş), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) attract visitors from all over the world. Yalikavak is famous for the numerous windmills found in the vicinity. The winds, that until recently turned the vanes of these working windmills, now fill the sails of boats and windsurfs. Another “typical” feature found in abundance here are domed water cisterns which, in the past, were used in times of drought and are now being adapted for artistic and cultural uses.

Sandima
A deserted village which was inhabited for more than 600 years by Turks and Ottomans. High up on the hills overlooking modern day Yalikavak, the village has been deserted since 1965 when the last villagers moved down to Yalikavak to cultivate citrus fruits and to work in the growing tourist industry.

Directions to find Sandima:
Take the main street from the PTT heading toward the sea, take the turning on your left just before reaching the harbour front. You will pass the market area on your right. At the T-junction, turn left. Shortly, you will see the 'Belediye' (council) building on your right, take the right turn immediately before you reach it. Park your car here, if you wish to continue on foot. The walk from here to Sandima is 2.2km, uphill in places.

The road becomes a track and runs straight. After 1.1km, a road joins from the right, it follows a river bed on your left and you will see bridges across to the houses on the other side.

The road starts to ascend and to your left you will see a dome-shaped structure. This is a 'Sarnie' or 'Gumbet', used for storing water, there are many dotted throughout the Peninsula, often plastered and painted white. Continue for about 4 minutes and you pass a fountain.

You will start to see the empty houses scattered over the hillside. Head right, toward the eucalyptus trees but turn sharp left, into a walled-in trail, before reaching them. Head uphill, you reach an ornamental water fountain at what would appear to be the old village square.

Situated on the village road between Gundogan and Turkbuku in an area called Kucukbuk, the villa has everything to offer for a relaxing holiday on the Bodrum Peninsula. The villa is on a Dolmus route to Gundogan and Bodrum and the Dolmus will stop directly outside the door when hailed.Click here for Gundogan information As soon as you enter the hall, an air of contemporary calm greets you. The villa is beautifully furnished, welcoming, light and spacious. Walk to your right to find the 1st of 5 bedrooms, this has 1 single bed (which can be rolled out into a double), wardrobes, bedside cabinet and en-suite shower room. On the left of the hallway, a large double bedroom, with lots of wardrobe and cupboard space greets you. Again, this 2nd bedroom has an en-suite shower room and two sets of French doors, 1 leading to a small private balcony at the side of the villa, the other leads onto the sunny front terrace. From these bedrooms, walk down the travertine stairs and on the left is the stylish lounge and sitting area complete with comfy sofas, TV & DVD, CD system, coffee table and small table and chairs for indoor snacks. Patio doors lead from here to the huge terrace which spans the back of the villa and overlooks the pool and Aegean – the terrace has an uncovered area for maximum ray catching and covered, shady area for those who prefer not to take in the summer sun. Step back along the hallway, to one of the two modern and well equipped kitchens. This kitchen has French doors leading to the covered terrace area, ideal for al fresco dining, and another set of French doors overlooks the side gardens giving access from the gardens to the pool. Back inside, follow the stairs down to the pool and garden level. Here is another lounge with patio doors leading to pool terrace area, a large double bedroom and huge bathroom (bath not a shower). This can be a complete self-contained unit, as there is a door between the bathroom and the next room – either lock it and make it a private bedroom suite or, keep it open as additional walk through space for a family. Likewise, because there is another full kitchen at the other side of this floor, plus separate WC (and storage/utility rooms), the whole ground floor could be used as a private apartment. Back up stairs, at first floor level, is a casual, comfy seating area, ideal for reading a book or just admiring the spectacular views of Gundogan across the bay and out to sea. Outside, the private pool and sun terrace beckons………… a large lawned garden surrounds the pool, so plenty of space for children to play, or for BBQs during the evenings. The views out to sea from the pool terrace are breathtaking – just sit back, relax and watch the fabulous sunsets and twinkling lights of the bay light up with a cool Efes or glass of Cankaya, local white wine……………. What more could you want?Shops (Bakals) - there are many small mini-markets, shops (Bakal in Turkish) which are open late at night. A short distance away and Gundogan itself has larger supermarkets etc. Each Wednesday, Gundogan hosts a vendor's market with a range of fruit, vegetables, olives, cheeses, herbs and spices, clothing, souvenirs etc for sale. Worth a visit as it is a very colourful sight. The larger market in Yalikavak (next village) is held each Thursday.Banks/supermarkets/petrol stations etcGundogan village has several ATM machines around its central beach and restaurant area. As well as the many shops, there is a Migros supermarket also in the centre. Yalikavak (the nearest town/village) is a 5 minute drive away. Here you will find several banks, Garanti & Finansbank are two good ones, these have ATMs. Large supermarkets, Carrefour, Migros and Tansas can also be found on the outskirts of Yalikavak, whereas just outside Bodrum (Ortakent area) there is a very large Kipa (Tesco) and next door, Metro (Makro) cash and carry - visitors can apply for a day pass for the latter.Petrol stations - on the road from Gundogan to Yalikavak near the large supermarkets above. There is enough room for a family feast to be laid out on the large table! After wining and dining, sit back and soak in the views. A few travertine steps take you to the main bedroom levels. From the entrance door a hall takes you to the lounge/dining/kitchen area which is open plan in style. Denizhan was the highlight of all the places we ate-the food was spectacular. We also loved Terzi Mustafa, Kosede (we all had fish & chips) and Le Cafe. We wanted to eat at Sait, but ran out of time! Maybe we'll be back!!! We also loved the boat trip. The crew were extremely nice and the lunch and swimming were amazing!!! I am certain that we will return to Yalikavak. We absolutely loved it!!! No car required as its just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Yalikavak, one of the Bodrum Peninsula’s prime locations. Yalikavak, has a multi-million pound marina, boasts excellent fish restaurants and has warm and welcoming village atmosphere which makes you want to return year after year. Buy fresh fish from one of the stalls in the town centre and barbecue it at home, accompanied by tasty fruits and vegetables from the friendly vendor next to the fish stalls (strategically placed), or chose to dine at one of the tourist or traditional Turkish restaurants which line the pedestrianised ‘main street’ of the old village.The villa is towards the rear of a small development of apartments and villas (1 of 20). On entering the villa, there is a double bedroom, complete with wardrobe and bedside cabinets, a bathroom with shower cubicle, WC and wash basin set in a marble surround is next door. Up several stairs to the mezzanine area, is the open plan living/dining and kitchen area. Stylishly furnished, the lounge seating area has two comfy leather sofas and matching chair, TV and coffee table. French doors open up onto a Juliet balcony with a view of the gardens and pool below and Yalikavak village in the background – then the Aegean! The fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer, gas hob and dining table and chairs.This villa is on three floors, so back track down the stairs and you find two further bedrooms facing the front of the development. One has two single beds and en-suite shower room and French doors opening up to ground level patio and gardens, the other has two single beds. Both rooms have wardrobes and cupboard space. At top floor level, there is a further double bedroom, almost identical to the one at entrance floor level, again with a shower room next door.From here, take the steps to the door opening onto the large roof terrace and take in the spectacular view. Flat roofed, white painted houses (typical of this area), olive and mandarin trees and the Aegean sea in the distance. While away the nights watching Yalikavak light up, barbecue on this roof terrace or if you want some nightlife, take the Dolmus (local mini bus) into Bodrum (20 minutes away).When you want to cool off, walk down to the communal pool and sunbathing terrace which is set amongst private landscaped gardens. The pool has a small child’s pool for those unable to swim and wanting to splash about.YALIKAVAKYal�kavak has grown in size over recent years and is very much a place where the locals welcome foreigners with open arms.Every Thursday there is a weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices. Walking from the market side to the beach and harbour is an old style pedestrianised bazaar for shopping, with a few boutiques, restaurants and cafes dotted around. The beach in Yal�kavak is long and narrow lined with a few restaurants it is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yal�kavak is always said to be a little nicer in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes.During the winter months the village retains its sleepy feeling where the residents spend many an hour playing backgammon or chess in the local ‘Kahve’ cafe’s.

The transfers to and from the airport went smoothly and the driver was polite and helpful. We were so impressed we would like to provisionally book again for next year. Overall a great trip on our first visit to Turkey, definitely recommend this property and the different experience of being in the local village has made us rethink hotel based holidays.

Set in a quiet location, the villa itself is a delight to enter...........Ground FloorFrom the shared drive (with private parking space) enter through the front door into the open plan living space complete with shower room/toilet/wash basin to the right of the entrance hall. To the left is the fully equipped kitchen (with fridge freezer, oven and hob, dishwasher etc) and in front, the living and dining areas. The dining area has a table and chairs seating 6 and is easily served from the kitchen. From here, walk down a step into the roomy lounge area, with its stylish and comfy sofa and chairs, TV and DVD player at one end and more casual seating and fireplace to the other. The DVD player also plays CDs and MP3s, ideal for your own music collection as you can play tunes of your choice through the TV speakers. This room is shaded from all aspects and cool in the summer – for additional comfort, a ceiling fan is fitted. Patio doors lead from here onto the covered terrace.Bedrooms4 in total, 2 with double beds, 2 with twin beds and 1 sofa bed. A three minute walk takes you to the beach where a choice of good restaurants give you use of sun loungers by day and sets up tables for dining on the beach and jetties in the evening. Around the pool is absolutely lots of space for loungers and relaxing.Garden: Next to and around the pool are beautifully maintained and landscaped gardens planted with colourful, mature shrubs and bushes.Pool Terrace area: Between the pool and the villa is a large covered terrace which offers shade from the sun. It has casual seating and also teak table and chairs for snacks and dining. A great breakfast and lunch area. There is a large TV with satellite for outside use on this terrace.Ist Floor Garden & Terrace: At this level the terrace/balcony from the main living area opens up to a casual relaxing Turkish style seating area to one side of the villa. The terrace is covered with vines and plants and is a really tranquil. This terrace then pens to the large rear private garden which is again beautiful and peaceful. A wonderful area to relax.The gardens are completely enclosed and are either fenced or planted with shrubs for privacy. The entrance to the drive has electric gates which can be opened and closed by remote control devices, which will be handed to guests when they arrive. The owners friendly dog lives in the gardens of the villa and is cared for by the caretaker. Both will be there to greet you on arrival at the villa! The caretaker will be at the villa daily tending the garden and taking care of the pool.

The villa is on a corner plot in a cul-de-sac location and has large private gardens surrounding the villa to the front, sides and rear. At the rear, the large private pool sits to the right of the house and is accessed by walking from the shady terrace through sunny, colouful, mature gardens. There is also a shower room and toilet close by the shower, so no need to enter the house, once in 'pool' mode! The pool area is very private with the pool itself being larger than average: 10m x 5m (1.25m deep). Proper steps lead down into the pool from one end and a pool ladder is positioned at the side by the sun terrace. There are gardens surrounding the villa, but the rear garden and terrace area is huge and child safe as it is completely fenced off and contained. Around the pool area it is paved for sunbathing, with a Turkish style seating area. The remainder of the rear garden is lawned and planted with mature, colourful shrubs. The lawned area has hammocks strung between olive trees to enjoy those lazy, hazy days of summer! Public Transport - Dolmus At the main road junction, it is easy to hail a Dolmus (mini bus) either to Bodrum, which take approx 15 minutes to reach Bodrum centre, or Yalikavak and Turgutreis in the other. Or 5 minutes to Bitez beach. There is easy access to shopping areas, other resorts on the Peninsula and the airport. Beach/Restaurants/Bars/Shops Its a 5 minute drive to the beach and an easy walk along the promenade to restaurants and café’s. The tennis club and marina/harbour are within minutes walking distance. Banks/supermarkets/petrol stations etc All locally based in Bitez, banks have ATMs. Large supermarkets can be found just outside Bodrum (Ortakent area). The pool is large (18 metres long) and shallow in all areas (c. 1.6 metres). There is an adjoining paddling area for young children. The villa is on a site of 12 villas and has its own parking space near the entrance. A site manager lives within the grounds and is available to help with any queries. A three minute walk takes you to the beach where a choice of good restaurants give you use of sun loungers by day and sets up tables for dining on the beach and jetties in the evening. The beach is sandy and the sea is clear. Perfect for swimming. A car is not required for those who want to chill out by the pool or beach, but for those who wish to explore the area a little more, a car is necessary.
